Transferability analysis of built environment variables for public transit ridership estimation in Wuhan, China

چکیده

New stations (such as metro stations) will bring remarkable changes to the local transportation and economic development. Understanding patterns of factors which importantly impact on public transit ridership in surrounding areas new is essential their construction planning, like estimating possible ridership. Built environment variables with high importance magnitude, were thought applicable estimate other same category, described transferable (TVs) this study. A transferability analysis method built for estimation was constructed by adopting partial least square regression (PLSR) based available data. Taking Wuhan, China an example, study analyzed differences different categories pedestrian catchment (PCAs) magnitude taxi ridership, data one week January, April, June. Performances TVs all compared. This inferred that (1) most land use (about 85%) showed important influence while only about 18% key impact. The mainly related PCA modes, but less time. (2) Highly also tended be highly transferable. Transferability types transport. (3) Compared variables, using TVs, relative accuracy around 20% higher respectively.

Sustainable Mobility: Longitudinal Analysis of Built Environment on Transit Ridership

Given the concerns about urban mobility, traffic congestion, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, extensive research has explored the relationship between the built environment and transit ridership. However, the nature of aggregation and the cross-sectional approach of the research rarely provide essential clues on the potential of a transit system as a sustainable mobility option. From the per...

Pedestrian Environments and Transit Ridership

This paper explores how the quality of the pedestrian environment around transit stops relates with transit ridership. The primary hypothesis tested is that transit tripmaking is higher in urban environments that are more conducive to non-motorized travel, given that bus transit systems are most frequently accessed via walking or biking. A secondary goal is to contribute to an improved understa...

Examining the influence of stop level infrastructure and built environment on bus ridership in Montreal

We studied transit ridership from the perspective of the transit provider, with the objective of quantifying the influence of transit system operational attributes, transportation system infrastructure attributes and built environment attributes on the disaggregate stop level boardings and alightings by time of day for the bus transit system in the Montreal region. A Composite Marginal Likeliho...
